The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach provides services to a significant number of economically challenged and low income families in the Laguna Beach, CA area. Together with Rotary Club of Laguna Beach, The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach will identify approximately 100 low income families in particular need during the Thanksgiving holiday. More than 40 Rotarians and 10 Interact Volunteers from the Laguna Beach Rotary Club will purchase food and assemble care packages, which will include a complete Thanksgiving meal, for distribution to those low income families.
We anticipate packaging and distributing approximately 100 boxes to 100 different families in need. The completed boxes, which will contain both perishable and non-perishable food, will be marked with Rotary decals and distributed by the Rotary and Interact Club members to the identified recipients the week preceding the Thanksgiving holiday.
The funds will be used exclusively to purchase the perishable and non-perishable food and boxes. There are no administrative or other costs. Smart & Final, as a supplier, will afford a discount of approximately 20% of the total food cost, which assists our Club in reaching more families in need.
The project will be performed within a two week period prior to Thanksgiving, November 26, 2015.
