This project provides funding for the economic upbringing and community development of the rural villages of Bidadhi near Bangalore, Karnataka state in the following areas.

1. Provide vocational training in Tailoring & Candle making.

2. Purchase Sewing machines and candle making tools to provide hands-on training and train them to be self-employed

3. Set up solar energy units for power generation at Rotary Cantonment Centenary building

4. Set up Bore well and water storage facility at the Rotary Cantonment Centenary building

5. Provide toilet accessories at the Rotary Cantonment Centenary building

6. Provide Micro credit for local women Self Help Groups

7. Provide Water filters for drinking water to 15 schools located in the village cluster.

This project meets the following needs of the local community - Economic & Community development & Health

1. Training of women for self employment leading to income generation and women empowerment

2. Micro credit to self help groups mainly for purchase of Cows. Sale of milk provides reasonable monthly income

3. The Rotary Cantonment Centenary building after the addition of the facilities will serve as local outreach health center (in association with a local private hospital with whom RBC has signed a MOU).

4. Drinking water facility for school children

All these are continuous sustainable projects. It is estimated that this project will take about 8-10 months to complete.

This grant application was approved by the District Rotary Foundation Committee on 10/10/13. The DDF requested to match club donations has been approved by that committee. The grant may proceed to the Rotary Foundation application process.

Finally after several iterations, we have the approval from TRF of this long awaited very worthwhile project for establishing a Village Training Center and give Micro Credit loans to the SHGs in India. I request the committed clubs send their contribution as soon as possible with proper documentation. Sorry for the delay

The project is 80% complete. The solar Energy System is installed and operational. The Village Training Center is well set up and the 25 selected students were given hands-on training in tailoring and second batch is starting. First round of micro-credit funding was distributed and Host Rotarians are monitoring the progress. Project likely to complete by end of May 2015.

Progress Report as of May 31, 2015 has been uploaded in the TRF website and also in this website in the documents section for this Global Grant GG1416569 (G-471). The project is not complete.

The project is complete and we have completed the report. Unfortunately, our President Dr. Seymour Myers and the Host Rotary President are ready to sign, but are not able to. We have repeatedly requested help from Sara Mercer of Rotary International and hope she can soon resolve this authorization problem of this three month old report.

Progress Report was submitted in March 2016 to TRF and the final report is under preparation. The project is now complete.

Host Rotary in India has submitted the bank statement and utilization certificate and other documents to the Rotary International South East Asia Office and in the process of submitting the final report.

The project was completed in early this year and final report was submitted with all bank statements etc. TRF is currently reviewing the report and hopefully should close the project soon

The Indian Host Rotary rep Dr. Sunil Pai of Bangalore Rotary Club has given all the bank records, reports and responded to all questions raised by TRF and it is not clear what else they want and hope they close the grant soon. The project was completed 2 years ago with all reports, bank statements filed properly last year.

This Global Grant was completed and all reports submitted in 2016 and early 2017. There were some questions that TRF asked and Host Rotary has provided additional information and responded to all questions raised. It is not clear why TRF has not closed the Grant.

The Project report was submitted by Host Rotary (GG1416569, Closure Letter, RC of Bangalore Cantonment, D-3190) and the Rotary Foundation (India) on March 18, 2019 sent us an email saying - Thank you for submitting the final report for Global Grant GG1416569. The report has been reviewed and is complete. Rotary Foundation (India) will now mark the grant closed. Your cooperation in fulfilling this requirement is greatly appreciated.

This Global Grant was marked as "Closed" by TRF on March 18, 2019 and should be reported as closed as reported in the History Log in April 2019. There is no more additional report on this grant.
