Almost all inhabitants of the department of Gracias a Dios get their drinking water from local rivers contaminated with feces from humans and animals. This project will provide water filters to approximately 600 homes and provide sanitation/hygiene training to all of these villagers. Installation of latrines will also be considered based on cost and locations. Filters installations and training should begin early in calendar 2016 and be completed by the summer.
Most of the funds will be used to purchase, transport, and install filters in individual homes. The remainder will be used for training in hygiene, installations of latrines and the purchase on anti parasitic drugs.

DDF contributions in grey are pending approval of the corresponding district committee.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
