Summary: Club grant and matching District grant will provide funds for playground equipment and installation of same for young children in underserved San Diego downtown community.
The Logan Heights Community Development Corporation (CDC) exists to serve a socio-economically challenged community in Southeast San Diego. It has a Future Achievers Pre-School Program for young children between the ages of 2-5. The purpose of the program is to teach young children social and motor skills, to interact with each other and play together in constructive ways, which are foundational blocks to develop further skills as they age. The playground equipment will supplement other Future Achiever programs in the pre-school as well as serve as a location for other community events throughout the year. It is estimated that the total cost of the playground equipment and padding will be $11,379 (with installation). The CDC has raised $3000 to date and together with the Club and matching District will have a total of $10,000. It is anticipated the balance of $1379 will come from other Avenues of Service of the Club.
