Project Description Country: USA Location: O'Neill NE Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: Economic and community development Activity Type: Community Development: Renovation Summary: Resurfaced playground at O'Neill Elementary School to facilitate access by all children including those with physical disabilities. O'Neill Elementary School, located in O'Neill NE USA, is planning to replace the pea gravel in their playground with a poured rubber surface. The current playground area is not handicap accessible. Children in wheelchairs cannot currently navigate the playground area and interact with their peers. This proposed new surface will also reduce slipping hazards caused by pea gravel being kicked out of the area and onto the sidewalk by children playing. This grant request will provide partial funding for monies that are being raised during this academic year. The new surface is planned to be poured in June 2017.
