Project Description Country: USA Location: Bigfork, MT Total Budget: $9,380 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Replacement of Musical Instruments in Bigfork Schools' Band inventory. Instruments selected, procurred and distributed by Rotary Club of Bigfork. Instruments will be utilized by 110+ students in grades 6-12. Replace obsolete, irreparable musical instruments in the Bigfork School's band inventory that has been deteriorating for years. Instruments will be used by over 100 students from 6th-12th grade, many unable to afford or rent private instruments and currently being shared by up to 5 students a day. This is phase I of a multi-year program to replace damaged and irreparable instruments and may include replacement of old music stands and restocking of items like reed which have shorter lives. 37 Rotarians will participate in purchase of instruments, school concerts, and do presentations at school assemblies as instruments are added to the program. They will also convey this need to the community via Facebook. The club is proposing to showcase the band at a larger fundraising event. A permanent tag will be affixed on the new instrument cases showing it was provided by the Rotary Club of Bigfork.
