Project Description Country: El Salvador Location: San Vicente City Total Budget: $8,000 Area of Focus: Economic and community development Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: General Summary: Fund Poultry and other associated materials for the School Farm which will educate and train at least 165 women in San Vicente City, El Salvador. Due to low food production in the country, almost all foods including basic necessities, have to be imported. 40% of the Rural families are living in poverty due to high prices of imported food. This project will provide the basic infrastructure of the chicken farm to educate and train 165 women at the Farm School in San Vicente City. The goal is for them to become self sufficient in poultry breeding and egg production as well as marketing their surplus. The project is estimated to run for 1 year. The project will fund primarily the purchase of poultry, equipment and other associated materials.
