Develop training programs for awareness and the prevention of mental health illnesses and alcohol or drug abuse, through the training by each institution of 40 students from 7th to 10th grade, 40 parents and 15 teachers, complemented by the organization of networks within them that allow improve access to health services, with the aim of reducing the incidence and consequences of these diseases.

Our project formulated in alliance with the collaborating organization Asociación Niños de Papel is the continuity of an intervention process that began in 2022 in these schools and is aimed at promoting the development and strengthening of social skills in young people in school and adults (caregivers, parents and teachers) in the face of social and family problems associated with mental health and the experimental and habitual use of psychoactive substances in these five (5) educational institutions identified as high risk due to the high incidence of reported cases.

The collaborating organization Asociación Niños de Papel is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that has existed in Colombia for 33 years and that has always generated multiple proposals for the comprehensive and integrated intervention of individual or collective situations that put at risk emotional development, mental health and the dynamics of the family and social environment of Colombian boys, girls, adolescents and young people. Since 2016, it has been duly authorized as an IPS specialized in the treatment and rehabilitation of the mental health of minors, with or without consumption of psychoactive substances, and has recognition at the regional, national and international level such as: the National Good Practices Award of Reduction of Psychoactive Substance Consumption awarded by the National Mental Health Council in October 2020, the 2001 Reina Sofia Against Drugs award, 2012 Ventures award in the social impact category, CEPSA 2012 Social Value award, among others. Likewise, it is Certified by ICONTEC with the ISO 9001 Standard, which also guarantees the seriousness and quality of its services.

The project of this collaborating organization that we propose to support through this grant is made up of 4 phases:

PHASE 1: Perceptual analysis of reality in each educational context and selection of youth leaders. This first phase has been previously developed by members of the Cartagena de Indias Rotary Club and the collaborating organization Asociación Niños de Papel. The results of this phase have been used in order to have the diagnosis or baseline that will allow the following phases to be developed.

The resources that are intended to be managed with this subsidy will be used for the development of phases 2,3, and 4, which consist of:

PHASE 2: TRAINING BOYS, GIRLS, ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG PEOPLE (NNAJ) LEADERS IN ACTIVE LISTENING METHODOLOGY (Duration 3 months)

Phase 2 consists of the following steps:

1. 40-hour training on tools and techniques for motivation, engagement, active listening and helping relationships.

2. Development of a training process in the application of screening tests for the psychosocial teams of each Educational Institution

PHASE 4: SUPPORT FOR THE INSTITUTIONAL STRENGTHENING AND SUSTAINATION OF THE STRATEGY (Duration: Transversal to the project)

1. Development of mappings to identify other organizations (community resource network) with whom joint work can be developed.

2. Support in the management of conflicts and/or situations identified in educational entities and that require the support of specialized personnel

3. Strengthening the links and relationships of the members of the operational network and the resource network of the other community devices of the Papel Children network

4. Evaluation of the process and result indicators of the strategy.
