Dental Clinic Tanzania

$57,100

This project is a collaborative effort of over 10 US Rotary Clubs( California and Nevada), and will provide dental care for many of the 386,000 people in and around Nykato (Mwanza, Tanzania). Access to dental care, at the current time, is almost non-existent. The dental clinic will also be used as a minor medical surgery suite and triage center. The dental clinic is being opened and will be part of a hospital being built by International Health Partners(a 501C3). The opening of the dental clinic portion of the hospital is critical because, by Tanzanian regulations, until the dental clinic is operational, the hospital will not be accredited therefore making the completion of the dental clinic extremely important. Once the hospital is accredited, it will be eligible for government pay stipends. This will make the retention of existing staff and the recruitment of additional staff much easier. In a country that ranks in the bottom 3% of the world in it’s ability to provide adequate health care to it’s people, the opening of new hospitals and health care facilities is critical.
