   Mexico - Tijuana

Hearing the Angels

$10,000

Tijuana is one of the largest cities in Mexico, famous for tourism. Only 22 miles from San Diego, it has lately become a center for drug trafficking as well. Violence is an every day affair in Tijuana, one of the most impoverished areas in the Mexican Nation. The Tijuana Rotary Club is a beacon of hope for the area. Famous for its volunteer activities in the most needy areas of their community, the Tijuana Rotary club, over the years, has partnered with American Rotary Clubs near the border.

The Tijuana Club has identified one of the greatest needs among the children of their community, many of them abandoned and living in orphanages. It is Hearing Loss.

Caused by untreated ear infections among infants, there are an incredible number of children in the Tijuana area that are hearing impaired and thus, unable to learn to read and write. The nearby clubs of District 5300 have answered the call and have committed to raise funds to purchase hearing aids for these children so thay have a chance of obtaining an education and achieving a normal life

The Sierra Madre Rotary Club and the Arcadia Rotary Club of of District 5300 in Southern California have made a commitment to the project as have their individual members.

We invite you and your club to join us.
