This project provides 6 rural community schools in the sub-Saharan area of Mali, West Africa with: 1/ clean water, 2/ sanitation, and 3/ solar lighting.

Children in rural areas of Mali are attending schools that are ill equiped to provide an environment conducive to learning and development. The schools lack clean water, sanitary latrines, and lighting. This project includes solar electrification for all classrooms, clean water tap stands and pit latrines for hand-washing and hygiene programs, and revenue generating programs (such as millet grinding centers)to support costs of maintenance for financial sustainability.

This project will enable the students to improve their attandance and test scores by providing better hygiene programs and after school study and tutoring facilities. These communities have been living without electricity for generations, and “the grid” is unlikely to reach them anytime soon. Providing electricity to each classroom will have long term benefits to these communities.

This project has already funded 3 schools for all the work mentioned here and completed the installations and training at 2 of these 3. We now need funding for the remaining 3 schools.
