The Rotary Club of Mukono has identified 3 local villages where 6 water springs can be improved by protection. This will enable over 1,800 people to get access to clean water and hence remove the risk of many water borne diseases. This will also reduce the many hours lost in looking for clean water for human consumption. The meager household earnings that would have been spent on medical care will also be saved.
Provision of water in protected springs will also save time and efforts spent by children while searching for water for family use and therefore release them to go to school in time and have more lesson time.
The project will cater for protecting two springs in Nakabago Village, two springs in Ntawo Village and two springs in Buguju Village benefiting over 1,800 people. The protected springs will become the property of the Local Council Community management committee.
The Rotary Club of Mukono will provide the following:
Transportation of materials, mobilization of the community that are all valued at US$1,200. Each local community will provide some locally available materials manual labor, supervision and co-ordination. |
