Pace makers for Uganda

$12,650

Economically under-developed countries like Uganda face the challenge of an increasing incidence of heart-related disorders, many of them leading to reduced productivity or death due to the acute shortage of specialists and facilities. Pacemakers are often lifesaving. They invariably improve the quality of life for recipients and allow them to lead normal, productive lives. These pacemakers are supplied to carefully organized and monitored pacemaker banks. The planned project will be able to provide pacemakers to 108 patients over a three year period, an average cost of US$162 per pacemaker.
