   Uganda - Ibanda

Ibanda Water Well

$23,952

Through this district designated funds grant, we want to provide funding for digging a water well for the community in Ibanda, Uganda East Africa. Lack of clean nearby water is a source of disease, poor hygiene, illiteracy, and preventable child deaths.

Ibanda, Uganda (southwest Uganda, not far from the Rwanda border) has no running water in the community. It is a town of approximately 7,000-8,000 people. The closest water they have is a muddy swamp approximately 1 hours walk away. The children have to walk this hour multiple times per day with five gallon cans on each arm or head to “fetch” this muddy water. This well will enable the community create the time to educate their children, improve literacy, build an economy, and reduce infant death.
